Choosing a Directory:
---------------------DThere are several way to point to a directory using DM3. It is worthHyour while to get familiar with all of them. The more ways you know, the
easier it is to use DM3.
EThe simplest way is to just type in the directory name. If you're notGsure what the directory name is, you can just press Return and DM3 will@load Pick Directory. (Note: Pick Directory is a program from theFComputer Tyme DOS ToolBox.) You can move to the directory you want and@press Return. Whatever directory you moved to will be the chosen
directory.EIf you have some other change directory programs that you have set upEprogrammable function keys to run, you can press the function key andGuse these programs to choose a directory. DM3 comes with a few MarxMenu
programs that you can use.?If you have been accessing other directories, the last accessed/directory can be chosen by pressing the F2 key.AYou can also access the directory stack and select a directory by
pressing the F8 key.HYou can choose a drive by pressing the F5 key. This will list all drivesHthat are not at the root directory. Other drives may be chosen by typing
the letter for that drive.
Advanced Techniques:
--------------------GWhen choosing F5 or F8, you will notice the TAB key option. This allowsEyou to edit the path that is suggested. If while editing the path youApress the F9 key, Pick Directory will come up and let you move to"another directory from that point.EWhile in Pick Directory you can create directories and choose the new<directory. You can also rename and delete directories there.U
DM3 Setup Help
--------------FDM3 allows you to configure many options and save those configurationsFwithin the DM3 program. These options are saved towards the end of the@DM3.EXE file. If you are on a network and have several differentCconfigurations for different users, put a copy of DM3 in each users
personal directory.
FDM3 can also save its setup to a text file. This way you can move yourHsetup from one version of DM3 to another. The default file name for this
text file is DM3.DFT.
DM3 Setup Commands:
-------------------.A - Turns exploding windows effect on and off.-B - Turns shadowed windows effect on and off."C - Turns sound effect on and off.CD - Controls the speed of the exploding windows effect. The default@ speed is 12. The smaller the number, the faster it explodes.EE - Forces DM3 into the monochrome only mode even if you have a colorG compatible screen. This is useful on portable computers with liquid# crystal and gas plasma screens.FF - Turns video snow checking on and off for CGA compatible computers.G If you have a CGA monitor and seeing a lot of video snow, turn this
option on.DG - This is where you tell DM3 what your favorite editor program is.BH - This is where you tell DM3 what your favorite view program is.HJ - This is where you tell DM3 what your favorite file patch program is.BK - Sets novice mode. This protects the user from some of the more$ powerful and dangerous commands.&L - Lets you set the color selections.FM - Runs your editor on the DM3.SET file. This file lets you configure9 your programmable function keys and autorun commands.3N - Switches you into the EGA/VGA 43/50 line modes.GO - Sets the overwrite mode. This deals with when you are going to copyE a file over and existing file. Mode 1 lets you copy over the fileD with no warnings. It assumes you know what you are doing. Mode 2D will warn you if the file you are copying over is newer than the> source file. This is the default. Mode 3 always warns you.,P - Loads default settings from a text file.*Q - Saves default settings to a text file.9S - Saves settings to DM3.EXE. This makes them pernament.
